As many of you know, yes indeed Hurricane Tomas is headed directly at Haiti scheduled to arrive here on Friday. We have been watching daily to see where and when it will hit. As we drove by tent cities today all I could think about is how they will fare in this coming storm. I can’t help but think about all the people, children, little babies who will be wet and cold. Tents were not made to be lived in like this. It breaks my heart.
In the next couple days we will begin preparing the campus for the coming storm. Putting everything inside and also preparing medical supplies to go out to provide help where need. Our medical staff will be Dr. Cheryl, Sarah, Lindsay, Dr. Marja, a visiting Paramedic and Grant, yes Grant Rumford! We found out a yesterday that Grant was praying about coming to help with the aftermath of the Hurricane. He will be arriving tomorrow morning and all us staff are ecstatic that he is coming for a few days, wish it was better curium stances but we are still excited to see him.
We can already see the storm coming from the south. Most of our weather comes from the west so as we look across the bay you can see rain. Our Internet is already starting to get bad so I will do my best to update via my blog and facebook.
Please pray for Haiti. Pray for a Miracle, pray that the hurricane would change directions completely. Have faith as small as a mustard seed and believe that God can move the hurricane because he is more then good!
On a happier note, Lindsay and I were able to get off campus today. This was the first day ever when we haven’t had any teams. Aside from a few medical team members the only team we had here left today and we don’t have any teams until the weekend. There’s not much to do on campus so we decided to go on an adventure. We ended up going to the sugar cane museum for lunch; it was delicious!! Ruben kept laughing at me because I was excited at how fancy it was. It was pretty fancy for Canadian standards so it was exciting to get out and do something like that. It was a great day full of much needed chilling and laughter.
Love, Blessings and Tomas
